AZCOM - CGS Biomedical Sciences Admissions Agreement

Our AZCOM Admissions Agreement provides a direct route into medical school for qualified graduates from the Biomedical Sciences programs in CGS.

The Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine (AZCOM) agrees to reserve a minimum of 50 seats for qualified applicants who graduate from one of the Biomedical Science Programs within the College of Graduate Studies (CGS) on either the Glendale, AZ or Downers Grove, IL campuses. 

Eligibility Requirements

To be guaranteed a seat, applicants from either the Master of Arts in Biomedical Sciences (MABS) or the Master of Biomedical Sciences (MBS) program must meet all the following requirements:

  • Complete the Biomedical Sciences program at CGS of ³ûÄñÊÓƵ with a cumulative science grade point average of 3.40 with no failures in the Biomedical Sciences program courses.
  • Achieve a score of 495 or higher on the MCAT within the three years prior to matriculation into the CGS Biomedical Science Master of Arts program or two years prior to matriculation into the CGS Biomedical Science (MBS) program.
  • Perform above average on interviews at AZCOM.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of osteopathic medicine and a sincere interest in a career in the field.
  • Complete the academic success lecture series.
  • Meet all other requirements and prerequisites listed in the MWU catalog, student handbook, and this agreement.
  • Graduate on-time from the Biomedical Sciences program. No leave of absences, withdrawals, or extended study programs are allowed.
  • Remain in academic and professional good standing throughout the student’s time as a ³ûÄñÊÓƵ CGS student.  

Application Processing and Admission Timeline

Applications from currently enrolled Biomedical Sciences students who apply with a valid MCAT score of 495 or higher will be processed as follows:  

  • Biomedical Sciences students who have achieved a minimum of 3.10 science GPA by the end of fall quarter will be permitted to schedule an interview.
  • Students must achieve a minimum of 3.40 science GPA by the end of the winter quarter of the application year to be eligible for guaranteed admission.
  • Students must maintain the 3.40 science GPA through the remainder of the program and complete all requirements listed above to maintain their admission.

This agreement may be discontinued for any reason providing that written notice is given 12 months prior to such discontinuation and that those students who have been accepted under this agreement be permitted to complete their course of study.
