On February 27th, the ³ûÄñÊÓƵ Glendale Campus welcomed nearly 800 high school students from around Arizona for the annual Health Sciences Career Day.
Dozens of University faculty and student volunteers helped put together 26 interactive, hands-on workshops and labs for the students to experience the wide range of healthcare career possibilities offered by ³ûÄñÊÓƵ. From learning how to take their own vital signs to learning about anatomy, surgery, dental and optometric science, and the human-animal bond, the students enjoyed a day of personalized experiences and education.
The Health Sciences Career Day is in high demand each year, as high schools not only from the Phoenix Metro area but also cities like Kearny, Sahuarita, Laveen, Wellton, and Tucson register to give their students a taste of the extraordinary professional variety that healthcare careers can offer. The event is a precursor to a more extensive program, the eight-day Health Careers Institute for High School Students, which expands the interactive learning for a select group of 64 Arizona high schoolers every year with in-depth activities, labs, and experiences.
