What inspired you to pursue a healthcare career?:

I’ve always been passionate about health. I knew that my career would be one focused on helping people access a better quality of life through healthier practices. The benefit of wellness in our daily life is something that should be considered priceless. It was not until I was exposed to the world of dentistry that I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I saw an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life, as well as improve their confidence and give them a reason to smile.

How did your background and history factor into your career choice?:

I am the first in my family to attend graduate school and pursue a healthcare degree. Words cannot express the importance of a strong support system in the pursuit of higher education. My family and friends provide an overwhelming level of encouragement that is never taken lightly. With this support, it’s possible to not only succeed but to thrive in any environment.

Why did you decide to attend ³ûÄñÊÓƵ?:

³ûÄñÊÓƵ stood out to me during my interview process. Whenever I’m asked about the process of choosing a school, I remember being spoken to by Hal Haering, D.M.D., Dean, College of Dental Medicine-Illinois (CDMI), at my initial interview. We come from neighboring states, so he struck up a conversation. I felt a sense of welcome and it stuck with me. From that moment, I knew I wanted to come to ³ûÄñÊÓƵ. It spoke to the heart of the school and the importance of connection.

What about a ³ûÄñÊÓƵ education do you want to carry forward in your career?:

Connection is passed from faculty to students to patients. I think the ability to connect is what I’d like to take with me when I leave ³ûÄñÊÓƵ.
